About
Harrison Creech was raised in Seoul, South Korea where he currently lives and works. Creech earned a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Education from Asbury University in 2009. Currently, he is a candidate of the Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies Program at Pacific Northwest College of Art. His work investigates cross-cultural sites of exchange and how identity is formed in a foreign culture. Through a variety of media including weaving, video projection, and bookmaking, he explores how language, time, and objects can be used to examine communication and miscommunication.
Being an artist with a creative practice has always informed his teaching. As an educator, he currently teaches High School Advanced Placement (AP) Design courses in addition to Fine Art electives at Yongsan International School of Seoul. He believes in building up young people who are passionate and feel deeply about the tragedy and beauty of life, who appreciate shapes, sounds, and textures, and who mold thoughts and materials with a sense of excitement. Constantly surrounded by an environment of learning, he is an educator who embraces an atmosphere where it is safe to take risks. Ultimately his aims lay in being part of a community which encourages students to appreciate and develop their creative traits, to show them ways to enrich their lives in the present, to help them become life-long learners, and to become adults who find joy and delight in knowing more.
